Welcome to our website.
My name is Lana Carter and I am the CERT Coordinator for the city of Kaysville. I have been involved in CERT for over thirteen years on a city, county, region and state level.
I became involved in CERT because I wanted to be better prepared in my home with my family and to be able to help my neighbors and the community in the event of a disaster.
In our CERT program we teach about disaster preparedness, fire, medical, search and rescue, disaster psychology, team organization, terrorism and a mock simulation. You receive a training book, safety equipment and an i.d. badge.
The CERT program is overseen by the Kaysville fire department and we are very lucky to be one of the few CERT teams in the state of Utah to be used in other situations, not just emergencies, by our local agencies. We have helped in local fires (barn, house and wild-land), gas leaks, found dynamite and a tanker rollover. Some of the things we have done are supplied food to responders, traffic and crowd control, evacuations, reception centers, sandbagging and communications.
I feel it is important for anyone to have this training. By doing so, we become better prepared as individuals, families, neighborhoods and a community to respond to emergency situations and to do so safely.
Great Utah Shake Out
On April 17th, 2012 the Great Utah Shake Out occurs at 10:15AM. A 7+ magnitude earthquake will be simulated, and everyone is asked to take 1 minute and Stop, Drop, and Hold.
Our Kaysville CERT organization is registered to participate, and we are asking any CERT trained volunteers who can to please report to their staging area after they perform the required functions to take care of themselves and their families.

We had a great and full CERT class tonight. 19 area residents and an additional 12 students from Clearfield Job Corps!

2011 Wind Storm
Wow!!! What a storm!
We hope everyone is okay! It was determined that there was not any situations where CERT functions were required other than helping your neighbors as we typically do. Therefore we did not officially call out the CERT teams.
